WHAT WE DO

OUR MISSION.

Our mission is to inspire a passion for STEM in underserved schools in New Mexico through inquiry-based learning and enjoyable demonstrations.

OUR
STORY.

Started and run by high schoolers, EFFECTS seeks to make New Mexicans classrooms' STEM experiences more enjoyable by providing entertaining experiments. Many kids lack the opportunity to love STEM because injustice and inequality in the distribution of education. Unfortunately, many of Albuquerque's elementary schools have had to cut STEM programs because of a lack of funds. EFFECTS has brought together high school students from across Albuquerque that are committed to sharing their love for STEM. Through fun experiments and demonstrations EFFECTS aims to help make up for the lack of excitement in STEM.

OUR APPROACH

Our focus is not on lectures and worksheets, but on real-world demonstrations and discussions that can benefit students. Our goal is not to teach, as teachers have already done an excellent job of that. Instead we aim to inspire New Mexican children to develop a passion for STEM education through hands-on experiments.

OUR SCHOOLS.

To acieve our mission, EFFECTS has partnered with 5 elementary schools around New Mexico. EFFECTS is proud to collaborate with this diverse group of schools. We are always working on growing our program to include more elementary schools and students.
